On Tour with SchirnCircle

Last night I had an interesting evening, along with 12 other art interested people. We got together via SchirnCircle, a new group of interest initiated by Kunsthalle Schirn, Frankfurt. We had the chance to visit the German artist Tobias Rehberger in his studio, one of the last old factories downtown Frankfurt. He told us, in the olden days it was the first factory that produced perm stabilizer liquid "Dauerwellenmittel" in Germany. He is known for his colourful design art , black/white stripes and also as the professor at the art academy "Städel" in Frankfurt. Of course he told us quite a few other things also, about new projects, ideas he carried with him for years until it became the cafe at the Venice Bienale in 2009 and the fact that he has to move out because the premises are sold and being torn down and he might have to move to Berlin if he doesn't find something adquate in his favourite city Frankfurt.

Afterwards we went on to the gallery "Barbara Grässlin" where we spent quite a while talking about gallery business, artist marketing, art fairs, strange artist while admiring the lates exhibition of Georg Herold, an artist who likes to combine caviar with canvas or dresses wood in fabric. Interesting stuff exposed in an interesting location!
